Amberley a lovely country town in the beautiful wine region of Waipara Valley. Teviot View Accommodation is just 400m off SH1 in a quiet location but still close to all the amenities. A Countdown supermarket is only 300m away and Amberley's cafes/shops and restaurants are within a short walking distance as well. If you fancy a stroll you are only 4km away from Amberley Beach. Make the most of your stay by going for lunch at one of the Waipara Valley Wineries (5 min drive) and maybe try some wine tasting too.

Amberley is a 40 minute drive north of Christchurch (and Christchurch Airport) and is on the Alpine Pacific Triangle, which connects Waipara Valley (10 minutes drive) with Hanmer Springs Thermal Reserve (1 hour drive) and Kaikoura (1.5 hour drive).

Coming from the south (Christchurch direction SH1) turn right into Amberley Beach Road. You will find Teviot View Accommodation 400m down the road on your right hand side. Coming from the north (Cheviot and Kaikoura) turn left into Amberley Beach Road. You will find Teviot View Accommodation 400m down the road on your right hand side.

Amberley Township with its shops, restaurants and cafes is only a 5 minute walk away.
Amberley Beach is only 4 km down the road from us.
The Waipara Valley Wine region is only a 5 minute drive away.
During summer go and have a dip in the community swimming pool or have a game of tennis on the community tennis courts. There is a minimal charge for the pool. The tennis courts are free. You are more than welcome to borrow rackets and balls from the office.
Play a round of golf at the local Amberley Beach Country Golf Club. Enjoy the coastal view from the 2nd hole. Green fees are $20. For more info on equipment hire etc. please see www.amberleygolf.co.nz

Activities in and around Amberley

Explore the Waipara Valley Wine Region. Try some wine tasting or have lunch at one of the wineries.
Go for a stroll on Amberley Beach and take in the views. On a clear day you can see all the way to Kaikoura Peninsula and Banks Peninsula. If you prefer a short walk through a wetland area try the boardwalk near the Amberley Beach Golf Course. For anyone who feels adventurous go for a hike up Mount Grey/Mount Maukatere (15 minute drive). On a clear day the view from the top is magical. Another great adventure is the Tiromoana Bush Walkway (15 minute drive). This walk features open farmland vistas, wetlands and a beautiful remote beach where you can look for fossils.
On a nice sunny day go to Waikuku Beach (15 minute drive). It has a beautiful sandy beach and is a good swimming beach. There are life guards present during the summer months.
Go for a drive and explore the coastal area north of Amberley. Motunau Beach with it's lime stone cliffs and Gore Bay with it's sandy beach.
Go on a day trip to the spa village of Hanmer Springs. Enjoy the scenic 1-hour drive to get to Hanmer Springs. Relax in the hot pools or go for a stroll along the main street in the village.
Christchurch is only a 40 minute drive away. Go and have a walk around the city centre. The Canterbury Museum, Christchurch Gondola, Willowbank, Orana Park and the Antartic Centre are other options. Plenty to explore and see in this changing city.
